08/19/2010 NESAF Tour of the Penobscot Experimental Forest, ME ANNOUNCING NESAF TOUR OF THE PENOBSCOT EXPERIMENTAL FOREST, ME August 19, 2010 The Management and Utilization Working Group of the New England Society of American Foresters is announcing a field trip to the Penobscot Experimental Forest, near Orono Maine, on August 19th. The tour will be hosted by Drs. Laura Kenefic and John Brissette from the U.S. Forest Service Northern Research Station. We will visit a variety of study sites, including long-term silvicultural experiments. Tour attendees are requested to bring hard hats and safety glasses. There are several lodging options in the Orono and Bangor, ME area, including the Best Western just outside Orono (http://www.blackbearinnorono.com). A detailed itinerary will be distributed as the date approaches.
